My daughter S. was severely brain-injured at the age of 17 in July of 1997. She cannot walk, talk or write to communicate and has contractures of her right leg and arm. She sees a neurosurgeon every other month for follow-up, but there is not really anything more he can offer for her improvement.

A friend of mine suggested I contact Heather Johnstone in Illinois (we live in Missouri) as she had been helpful to her in the past. Heather responded to my email right away with suggestions for acupuncture (by provider), aromatherapy, pranayoga sweeping and chanting music. I took S. to a local chiropractor and told him what Heather had suggested be done--he agreed with her plan.

Since following Heather's plan, S. has become more vocal and has increased use of her limbs. She can now sit up in bed unassisted and is making greater use of her right hand. While she cannot say words, she has become more vocal--imitating the animals she sees outside her window and trying to talk. She has also become interested in cooking again--something she very much enjoyed before her accident. S. will now tear coupons out of the paper for food items she wants and goes to the refrigerator in her wheelchair and picks out the food she wants. S. is also more cheerful--she smiles much more often and interacts better with her environment. Thanks to Heather, I am expecting even more progress

I first showed up at Heather’s door in 1992, in crisis and doubled over from a severely ruptured lumbar disc. Pills and traditional medical treatments had not helped and the only option seemed to be surgery. Twenty-four hours later, after one treatment, and some recommended herbs I was standing up straight and the pain had decreased by 75 percent. I continued to see Heather for several years, for ongoing treatment for my back and for general wellness care. I came to consider Heather my main care giver at that time and appreciated how she blended her great knowledge of both Eastern and Western healing modalities to formulate the right treatments. I also appreciated how she devoted much time to educating me on how to care for myself.
