After presenting with rear leg paralysis, the very talented surgeon was able to remove the spinal cord mass(nephroblastoma) from Holly, but there was almost no spinal cord left. Given a less than 1% chance of walking again, at 4.5 months after surgery she was moving around very well. At 6 months, though she took scheduled walks with a rear end leash, otherwise she got around on her own. She walked at will and ran after her friends Buddy, the cat, and Shaggy, the pug. She also said a nice howdy to her friend Sara, another puggy. At one year, Holly shows intent and coordination in her walking and so the vet says that there has been definite spinal cord regeneration, rather than simple spinal walking. He could not be more ecstatic and amazed by her recovery. Holly is watched over while she runs around the yard by her human great-grandpa Dave who has been cancer free for 12 years after being diagnosed with a severe esophageal cancer which he eliminated with holistic health care. Go Holly ! Go Dave !

Hermes had a rough start with puppy diarrhea, over/improper medication(including antibiotics that we learned later are not used in children due to studies which show that they damage knee development in puppies) and premature separation from his mother. By 6 months he had a terrible coat with bald spots, hot spots, fear-based aggression, poor sleep, separation anxiety, depression, multiple environmental allergies, multiple food allergies, and a failed bilateral cherry eye repair. After failing allopathic medications for the above issues, a holistic vet and dog whisperer were consulted. Simple alpha training was done with the owners along with implementing a behavioral program for Hermes. A care plan of herbs and supplements was designed. With hard work by all, a professionally-designed behavioral program, and adjustments of the herbs, Hermes had improved sleep, resolved depression, controlled aggression, and resolved separation anxiety. The allergies, coat and skin were slightly improved. A move to a whole food diet with fruits, vegetables and meat was made. Immediately Hermes lost over 7 pounds of bloat. Within days the skin was only minimally irritated. Within two weeks the coat became glossy and thick. Unfortunately Hermes then presented with torn knee ligaments on both rear legs. He has had surgery on the one with completely torn ligaments. He has a long recovery period with much limitation. Impressively his other health issues, including the mental health problems, have not resurfaced with the stress of surgery and the prolonged period of minimal activity. While Hermes has a long road ahead of him, he is now enjoying his days and family.
