Laughter yoga is a branch of yoga which focuses specifically on the movements associated with laughter and breathwork that prepares the practitioner for the laughter. Started by Dr. Madan Kataria in 1995 as a formal discipline of yoga the practitioner performs pranayama for several minutes and follows up with laughter, without a stimulus, termed unconditional laughter, for a period of at least 20 minutes. This is done in a group setting which facilitates improved strength of the laughter as the group engages together in the laughter. The laughter yoga has been shown to reduce levels of stress hormones and so it can be applicable for stress reduction and stress prevention. Find out more today.
