Dry skin brushing helps to remove dead skin cells, improve circulation of blood, improve lymph flow, as well as stimulate your chakras. Dry skin brushing is a balancing technique for the entire mind-body complex and is a considered a deep cleansing routine in Ayurvedic medicine.
It should be performed before your shower or bath. Use of a natural bristle brush, loofah pad or loofah glove is recommended. A circular motion is recommended. Start with your feet. Work your way up your legs. Then move to your arms. Finish with your abdomen, chest, back and *head.
*Use caution with your head dry brushing, being very careful not to damage the delicate skin on the face and throat. Most of us will be more comfortable if we wash the face and throat before the dry brushing, which is different from the order with dry brushing the body.
